Stellune Lake
An easy but long route that takes place almost entirely on a forest road and a path. Final reward, the beautiful Lago delle Stellune.
The Stellune Lake is a corner of peace and tranquillity where one can savour an evocative and wild environment. In July, the green pasture around the lake is quilted with various colours: the pink of the rhododendron and epilobium dominates, accompanied by the yellow of the golden button and the purple of the bellflowers. The contrast with the deep blue of the lake waters makes this corner of the Lagorai magical.
Author’s recommendation
For experienced hikers, to the north-east of Lago delle Stellune towers the imposing Cima delle Stellune, which can be reached from the Forcella di Val Moena on path no. 317, continuing along the ridge to the summit.

Turn-by-turn directions
We set off on foot along the forest road alongside the Rio delle Stue, along path no. 318. After a first part in the wood, you reach the pasture with the former Malga Stue Bassa and then the Malga Stue Alta. Continue into the wood again to reach the second pasture and the Malga Cazzorga, where the forest road ends. Here the cows graze placidly throughout the summer season, grazing on grass and flowers that give the milk a unique flavour (look for "Malga" cheese in the valley dairies, you won't regret it!).
A little north of the malga, path no. 318 rises in altitude, passing just below Malga delle Stellune and continues eastwards towards Forcella Valsorda, finally reaching Lago delle Stellune, lying below Cimon delle Stellune, Monte Montalon and Cima delle Buse.
For those who are still strong, it is possible to continue to Forcella Valsorda, where extensive First World War entrenchments are visible.
The return is along the same route as the outward journey.
The lake can also be reached starting from the Manghen Pass with a walk of about 3.5 hours. In fact, it is located along the axis of the famous Translagorai, the trek that crosses the Lagorai chain from the Manghen Pass to the Rolle Pass.
