Turn-by-turn directions
The walk starts at Paluat, reachable by car directly from Predazzo. Follow the signage for Miola restaurant and Valmaggiore and continue to drive for about 7 kilometres entering the wood until the road gets dirt. Drive a little bit more and, next to a fork, leave the car at the small car-park on the left side.
We follow the dirt road on the left which goes through the red spruce forest reaching a bridge. We continue on the right, among the trees gradually gaining altitude and always enjoying the relaxing scenario. As the route gets closer to the destination we can admire behind us the white summits of the Latemar group.
Green lush glades surround us and we can see horses, lamas, sheep and cows pasturing around Malga Valmaggiore, which we reach soon.
Malga Valmaggiore offers the right place for kids to play (pay attention to the creek flowing nearby) or to meet other little animals like tiny rabbits and hens, living in the backside of the main building.
The malga offers different kind of typical food: during high season it’s also possible to taste the strauben – Tyrolean pancakes – with jam, irresistible!
It’s always a pity leaving this lovely place, it's a pleasant walk to repeat every year.
