An evocative walk, full of discovery and wonder, will take anyone who wishes to set out on this route to the majestic sight of the famous earth pyramids of Segonzano. The Earth Pyramids are located in the municipality of Segonzano, in the Cembra Valley, and are a natural masterpiece. Consisting mainly of earth and sand and topped by a porphyry boulder, they are a unique geological phenomenon in Trentino and rare in the world, not only in terms of their particular formation but also for their incredible state of preservation.
The site can be visited all year round via a specially equipped and well-marked path up the mountain slope.
Particularly recommended for young and old is the viewing of the second group of pyramids, which can be reached in about 30 minutes on foot and where there is a large panoramic terrace from which one can admire the entire surrounding landscape.

Author’s recommendation

A short distance from the Pyramids site is the Segonzano Castle.

Turn-by-turn directions

Once you reach the kiosk of the Pyramids, in the Segonzano area, following the SP71 Transversale Valle di Cembra Provincial Road, you can park in the space provided in front of the kiosk, and then begin the uphill route on foot. The famous earth pyramids stand out in three imposing earth pyramid groups along the route at different distances from the starting point. Follow the signs and markings to reach the chosen group and return to the starting point from the outward route or take the full circuit of about 2.30 hours to visit all the groups.

In the area of the pyramids, a short distance away, it is also possible to reach the Cascata del Lupo, a natural site of great interest: after leaving your car at the car park at the entrance to the Strada delle Strente, walk the short distance to the waterfall (10 min).

By road

Coming from the A22 Brenner freeway, either from the south or the north, exit at the Trento nord tollbooth (distance from the tollbooth 22.5 km), take the S.S. 12 del Brennero north to the Lavis junction, and then transit on the S.S. 612 Lavis - Castello di Fiemme, which leads to Valle di Cembra and the town of Segonzano.
