The protagonist of this easy itinerary is the imposing wooden bridge, unique in Trentino, an essential link to access the Cavelonte Valley. Cross the Avisio to the point where it is narrowest but also full of large stones. Walking along the banks of the river in the direction of Ziano, it is possible to see the waters that guard, among other minor species, the marble trout.

Kissed by the sun, this walk is ideal at any time of the day thanks to the favorable exposure of the entire route.

Author’s recommendation

An information panel near the bridge tells the story of this construction which, in its current aspect, dates back to 1896.

From Piazza Chiesa take Via Cavelonte down towards Ponte Coperto, the only such covered bridge in all of Trentino. Before the bridge, take a left onto a wide unsurfaced track to the MTB circuits and the football field, and continue along the bank of the Torrente Avisio to the village of Ziano. Turn left and go through the village to the church, crossing the SS48. A new footpath follows the line of the road and continues left, leading to the Pontologia trail, which is lit in the evening, and from there back to Panchià.
