CermiSkyline passes through wild and unexpected panoramas to the top of the Castel di Bombasel.

The more demanding passages of the section called Vertigo can be circumvented with easier variations and make it a route suitable also for sporty and equipped families.

The excursion to the Bombasel Lakes leading to the start of the ferrata is a classic destination for fans of Alpe Cermis.

Author’s recommendation

We suggest going uphill the part called Vertigo, and going down the Highway.

Safety information

THE 10 RULES FOR HIKERS

  • Prepare your itinerary beforehand
  • Choose an itinerary that suits your physical abilities
  • Choose suitable clothes and equipment
  • Check the weather forecast
  • Hiking by yourself is more risky; if this is the case, take a mobile phone with you
  • Leave information about your itinerary and your expected return time
  • If you are not sure about your itinerary, contact an Alpine Guide
  • Pay attention to signposts and directions that you find along your way
  • Do not hesitate in going back if you feel too tired
  • In case of emergency call 112

Please note that the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and is therefore influenced by natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this page may have changed. Before leaving for a tour, make sure the path you will approach is still accessible by contacting the owner of the mountain hut, the alpine guides or the visitor centres of the nature parks, the info offices of the local tourist board.

Destination

Paion del Cermis

Turn-by-turn directions

Once the lift has taken you up to the Paion del Cermis peak at 2.230 m, you will soon find an informative billboard with all the indications about the ferrata and the route to take in order to reach the starting point.

It will take 40 minutes to arrive there, along the wide L03/353 trail, up to the Lakes of Bombasel (2,268 m).

Past the starting point, which is marked by a second board, you can continue along the same trail, the L03/353, as far as Forcella del Macaco (2,278 m), where you will find indications directing you to Bombasel Vertigo.

Here, the CermiSkyline ferrata will take you over the vertical cliffs of the north-east crest and up to the peak, the solid bulk of Castel di Bombasel, at 2,535 m.

Once at the cross on the peak, the descent takes a single path, along the Bombasel Highway, an equipped route along the northwest crest as far as the Standing Stone, then along the L04 trail and back to the starting point, thus completing the loop.

Return to the Paion del Cermis peak using the same trail as the outward journey (L03/353).

Bombasel Vertigo, as the name suggests, offers to experienced and well prepared excursionists some more difficult thanks to which, always in complete safety, it is possible to cover some passages that seem to hang magically over the skies of Lagorai.

These variations are, however, optional, since the excursionists can branch off from the main ascent route and then return to it or simply proceed along it.

Public transport

Cavalese is the main village of Val di Fiemme. All bus lines stop there.

By road

From the highway exit Ora/Egna/Termeno you can reach Cavalese in half an hour (25 km).

Cavalese is 14 km far from Predazzo and 3 km far from Tesero.

Parking

There are several large parking spaces at the lifts, both in Cavalese and at the middle station "Fondovalle"
