Ride in the silence of the Paneveggio Forest along the Fortebuso lake, actually a dam created by man, yet wonderfully enchanting.

After greeting the deer that graze peacefully in the reserve of the Paneveggio Natural Park, we start taking the path in the forest that immediately leads to a curious passage: a bridge with a transparent bottom from which to admire the cheerful waters of the Travignolo stream. Gradually you gain the shore of the placid and enchanting Lago di Fortebuso, and then reconnect with the state road. The short climb towards the area of the Castelir lifts deviates almost immediately onto a pleasant dirt road which gradually ascends to Paneveggio.

Turn-by-turn directions

Departure from the Visitor Center of the Paneveggio Natural Park to reach the glass bridge over the Travignolo creek. Along an easy, slightly downhill path you reach Lake Fortebuso from where you go up to take the state road on the left towards Predazzo. Once you reach the crossroads for Castelir - Alpe Lusia, go up in the direction of the ski lifts and, after the first bend, take a suggestive dirt track to the right that leads back to Paneveggio Natural Park.

We recommend the detour to reach Forte Dossaccio. It is possible to visit only the external part of the Austro-Hungarian fort, whose construction began in 1890. From the top, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of the Lagorai chain and the imposing Cimon della Pala.

By road

From Predazzo head towards Passo Rolle until reaching Paneveggio.

Parking

Several parking lots at the Paneveggio Visitor Center.
