Marcialonga, one of the most popular cross-country skiing competitions in the world, invites you to try a part of its exciting track.
The Marcialonga track, a cross-country ski race included in the prestigious Wordloppet circuit, runs along the entire valley floor, flanked by the Avisio stream. As you slide along the track, you can see all the villages of Val di Fiemme which are located on the slopes of Cornon, Pala di Santa and Corno Nero peaks. Halfway through the route, the track crosses the Cross Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero, which has hosted the Nordic Ski World Championships 3 times and which will be one of the "Host Sites" of the MilanoCortina2026 Winter Olympics.
The track has several access points: Molina di Fiemme, Località Cascata (Cavalese Waterfall), the valley station of the Alpe Cermis cable car, Masi di Cavalese, Lago di Tesero, Ziano di Fiemme and Predazzo.
Starting from Lago di Tesero and going westward, you will first pass Masi di Cavalese, then the waterfall and you will then reach Molina di Fiemme, turning point to go back to Lago. The track is mainly flat (it slightly descends – 100 mt of negative height difference) with some short climbs just to change your pace and ski technique. The way back is on the same track, therefore with a positive height difference of 100 mt. The surrounding environment is characterized by the Avisio stream, meadows, small wood of spruce firs and beautiful glimpses on the valley’s towns and on the Lagorai Mountain Chain.
Moving in the opposite direction, that is to say from Lago di Tesero eastward, you will first find a long flat part that goes to Panchià. From here starts a sunny and apparently flat part that leads to Predazzo (arrival point of Marcialonga Light) passing first through Ziano di Fiemme, home town of the Olympic cross-country champions Bice and Giorgio Vanzetta, Giulio Deflorian and Antonella Confortola.
At this point, if you still have some energy left, you can go on, slightly uphill, towards Val di Fassa, where you will first encounter Moena (starting point of Marcialonga www.marcialonga.it). With favourable conditions, we suggest to keep skiing to Canazei to enjoy the stunning landscapes on the Dolomites of this area. If you start to feel tired, you can instead turn around and on the same track go back to Lago di Tesero, but this time slightly descending.
