Piccolo Museo della Guerra alla Baita Monte Cauriol
In Sàdole (near Ziano di Fiemme), at Baita Monte Cauriol, there is a little war museum called “Piccolo Museo della Grande Guerra”: inside, relics collected in Val Sàdole and in Ziano by Aldo Zorzi are exhibited. Moreover, in the museum you will find a little library with books about mountains and their history, and in the mountain hut you may taste a delicious variety of traditional dishes.
Baita Monte Cauriol is a strategic starting point for easy walks or excursions on the Lagorai, on the mountain peaks of Cauriol, Cardinal and Busa Alta. In this area some harsh battles took place during the summer and autumn of 1916 and today you can still see many relics and defensive walls dating back to World War One.
Baita Monte Cauriol can be reached from Ziano di Fiemme: from Frazione Bosin take via Sàdole and follow the street for about 8 km. The road is steep (the difference in height is about 600 metres) and partially unpaved, but it is accessible both on foot and by car.
The museum is open only during the summer with free entrance.
